Denver and Atlanta are two very different cities, but on October 10, 2010, they had something in common with each other and over 7,000 communities in 188 countries around the world.  On 10/10/10, young people in these two cities came together to participate in Global Work Parties inspired by 350.org and organized by community leaders and volunteers whose collective efforts resulted in the most widespread demonstration of climate solutions EVER!  Whether exchanging old incandescent bulbs for newer, more efficient compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs), planting trees or creating a video message to elected officials about the urgent need for clean energy, the message was clear: "We are getting to work to address the climate crisis and so should ALL WORLD LEADERS."

(check out the snowfall) Nikke and BMWC have been working to fight for green jobs and to stop unjust mining practices and development on the Navajo Nation – including an effort last year that got a historic green jobs bill passed by the Navajo Nation Council to create the Navajo Green Economy Commission.

St. Louis has long been corporate ground zero for dirty energy. Over the past two years, these corporations have become increasingly close with Washington University: Arch Coal, Peabody Energy, and the dirty energy utility Ameren UE helped found the Consortium for C!#@n Coal Utilization, the CEOs of Arch Coal and Peabody were appointed to WashU’s Board of Trustees, and WashU’s chancellor was the vice chair of a National Research Council report on America’s energy future that advocated for the continued use of coal.
